HOTSHOT FUEL SAVING TIPS

Summer temperatures allow for a shorter preheat time for oven.

Don't run the cab air conditioning until departure. Leave window down instead.

When the route is complete, shut down the refrigeration if the compartment is empty.

Open only 1 door at a time and try to pull product as quickly as possible. This lessens the time for the unit to get back to cycle temperature.

Make sure tires are inflated properly. On a heavy vehicle you can lose over 2 mpg with under inflated tires.

Use a good fuel system cleaner (i.e. Chevron Techron) every oil change or 3 months helps reduce carbon build up due to the extended idle times Hotshot units experience. Even if a truck has had a recent tune up you can still be missing 2 mpg from deposit formation.

A regular tune up will help mileage significantly and increase the reliability of your Hotshot truck. Attention should be paid to you air filter in dusty areas.

Dirty oil decrease's fuel economy and wears out your engine faster. Keep it changed every 3 months or 3000 miles. On units doing inner city driving and the extra idling, 3000 miles is equivalent to 5,000 to 7,000 miles on a highway driven vehicle. There is no money to be saved by not having your oil changed more often. You will actually lose money on fuel cost alone. This is the most neglected area that you experience and cost greatly in increased repair cost and down time.

Remember, the more worn and neglected your vehicle is, the less efficiently is uses fuel. Vehicles in top shape return top economic numbers.
